AI pentesting pricing in 2026
AI pentesting tools use three pricing models: quote-based enterprise platforms, free open-source agents that you host and pay model costs for, and self-serve plans with published prices. This page shows which model each common tool uses, based on each vendor’s own site on October 15, 2026.
How much does AI pentesting cost?
XBOW, Horizon3.ai NodeZero, and Pentera do not publish prices; you request a quote or a demo, and XBOW says its pricing is scoped to your environment. Open-source agents such as PentAGI, Strix, Shannon, and PentestGPT are free to download, and you pay for servers and LLM usage. RedCell publishes self-serve prices: Starter $20, Pro $99 and Max $199 per month, or $16, $79 and $159 per month billed yearly. New accounts can try any monthly plan for 24 hours for $1, with $2 of model usage included.
AI pentesting tools by pricing model
Not ranked. RedCell publishes this page. Prices change, so confirm them with each vendor before you buy.
| Tool | Type | Best for | Runs as |
|---|---|---|---|
| XBOWCompare with RedCell | Autonomous platform | Continuous testing of web applications, with exploitable findings validated by the platform | Vendor-run platform |
| Horizon3.ai NodeZeroCompare with RedCell | Autonomous platform | Recurring network, cloud, and web application pentests that show real attack paths | Platform with a runner you deploy |
| PenteraCompare with RedCell | Automated security validation | Agentless validation of internal and external network exposure at enterprise scale | Platform deployed for your environment |
| PentAGI | Open-source autonomous agent (MIT) | Self-hosted multi-agent pentesting with tools isolated in containers | Self-hosted (Docker) |
| Strix | Open-source AI agent (Apache-2.0) | Developers testing their own applications, with proof-of-concept validation | Local CLI with a Docker sandbox |
| Shannon | Open-source AI pentester (AGPL-3.0) | White-box testing of web apps and APIs: it reads the source code, then runs real exploits to prove each finding | Self-hosted |
| PentestGPTCompare with RedCell | Open-source agent framework (MIT) | Research and experiments with LLM-driven penetration-testing workflows | Self-hosted; you supply models and tools |
| RedCell | Commercial terminal AI agent | Operators who want an agent in their shell for authorized recon, CVE scanning, exploit verification, and reports, with scope checked on every action | Single binary on macOS, Linux, and Windows; needs a RedCell account |

Quote-based AI pentesting platforms
XBOW’s pricing page lists no prices. It says “Pricing is scoped to your environment” and describes usage-based pricing that scales with coverage, with “Request a Quote” and “Get a Demo” as the next steps. Horizon3.ai lists NodeZero editions such as Flex, Core, Pro, and Elite, but no prices; every call to action books a demo. Pentera’s site shows no prices and asks you to “Talk to an Expert”.
Quote-based pricing usually depends on the number of assets, the environments in scope, and how often you test. Ask each vendor for a price for the same scope so that you can compare like for like.
Open-source AI pentesting agents
PentAGI (MIT), Strix (Apache-2.0), Shannon (AGPL-3.0), and PentestGPT (MIT) cost nothing to download. The real cost is the servers or Docker hosts that run them, the LLM API usage for each test, and the engineering time to deploy, secure, and update the stack. Strix also sells Strix Cloud and Strix Enterprise.
Self-serve plans with published prices
RedCell publishes self-serve prices: Starter $20, Pro $99 and Max $199 per month, or $16, $79 and $159 per month billed yearly. New accounts can try any monthly plan for 24 hours for $1, with $2 of model usage included. Each plan includes a monthly model usage budget, so you do not need a separate LLM API key. The agent runs on your own machine, and you can cancel at any time.
A self-serve agent does not replace a signed, human-led penetration test where a policy or a customer requires one. It fits operators who want to run authorized recon, CVE scanning, and exploit verification themselves, at a known monthly cost.
