RedCell for Chrome Privacy Policy

RedCell for Chrome is a browser extension that lets the RedCell CLI, running on your own computer, see and control your Chrome browser when you ask it to. This policy explains what the extension reads, where that data goes, and the controls you have.

Last updated: October 11, 2026

What the extension reads

Only when the RedCell CLI asks for it, while the CLI is connected and the switch in the extension popup is on:

  • Tabs — the titles and addresses (URLs) of your open tabs.
  • Page content — the text and structure of the page the CLI works on, including form fields, and messages the page writes to its console.
  • Screenshots — images of the visible part of that page.
  • Page tools — the WebMCP tools a page offers and their results, when the CLI calls them.

To act for you, the extension can also open, close, and switch tabs, go to addresses, click, type, press keys, and run JavaScript in the page. It does this only on request of the CLI.

Where the data goes

The extension sends this data only to the RedCell CLI on the same computer, over a local connection to 127.0.0.1 (port 17373 by default). The extension itself does not send data to RedCell servers or to any third party.

The CLI uses the data in your conversation with the RedCell agent. As with any other input to the agent, the parts it needs to answer you are sent to the model service the CLI uses. For the RedCell service, the RedCell Privacy Policy explains how that is handled.

What the extension stores

In Chrome's extension storage on your computer: its settings (the on/off switch and the port) and, for the current browser session, which tab each CLI session works in. It does not store page content, screenshots, or browsing history, and it uses no cookies, analytics, tracking, or ads.

Limited use

The use of information that RedCell for Chrome receives adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The extension uses this information only to let your RedCell CLI use your browser. We do not sell it, transfer it for advertising, or use it to determine credit-worthiness or for lending.

Your controls

  • The switch in the extension popup turns control off at once.
  • Chrome shows a bar while the extension controls a tab, and you can cancel it there.
  • The RedCell CLI asks you before it clicks, types, or opens pages, unless you change its approval settings.
  • Removing the extension removes all data it stored.
